OSA Student Chapter

The OSA Student Chapter of Lille is an association of young optics scientists, funded in part by the Optical Society of America. It is one of the 5 other branches in France of this world organization.

Composed essentially of PhD students from the PhLAM laboratory in Lille, our association aims to promote science and optics to the general public (Fête de la Science, Mix’Cité festival…), to participate in scientific events such as conferences or workshops. (Workshop on recent advances in ultrafast nonlinear fiber optics 2018, IYSN kick-off meeting 2019), and to promote the different professional paths open to future doctors of optics by organizing company visits (Alcatel Submarine Network, Prysmian, CEA Laser Mega Joule…), professional afterwork and networking actions.

The next actions to come are the OSA afterwork (end of March) on the theme "Doctors in business" with the presence of Horiba and Prysmian, the visit of the CEA Laser Mega Joule (Bordeaux, spring 2020) and the event "Pitch your thesis in 5 min contest" (June 2020).

If you are interested or if you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask the representatives of the association: Marie FOURNIER-marie.fournier[chez]univ-lille[point].fr, Alan VANDENBERGUE-alan.vandenberghe[chez]univ-lille[point].fr (DYSCO team), Guillaume VANDERHAEGEN-guillaume.vanderhaegen[chez]univ-lille[point].fr and Dylan SEPTIER-dylan.septier[chez]univ-lille[point].fr (Photonics team).
